Peter Jennings was named to the Order of Canada just days before he died.
Canadian-born Jennings delivered the news to Americans over five decades, but never forgot his Canadian roots, returning to the Gatineau Hills of Quebec every summer.
His nomination to the order was submitted months before he made the April announcement on air that he had lung cancer. His nomination was then submitted to The Governor General, who then informed Jennings by letter. He accepted through his sister.
Orders of Canada cannot be appointed posthumously, and Jennings' award will be dated to the day his nomination was approved by the committee.
His children will likely be accepting the award on his behalf.
It would be interesting to know whether he would have worn the Order of Canada on air.
How much does Cambodian Citizenship go for nowadays?

Angelina Jolie will be proudly waving the Cambodian flag as of Friday.
For giving $1.5 million to the Cambodian Vision in Development, a community development group, for its environmental protection efforts in remote parts of the country's northwest, Cambodia's king has awarded Jolie Cambodian citizenship.
Since it's now your civic duty Angie, and to get you started, here is the Cambodian National Anthem, complete with lyrics....
Have fun!
Oh Canada!
