It's very sad. So sad.

On a personal note, I remember as a kid when our home was broken into on Christmas night one year when we were out visiting family. We came home to find our back door smashed in, our most personal things scattered around the house. Drawers dumped, mattresses flipped, things thrown all over the place, and our stuff that gone. Worse for a kid, the few gifts that were under our tree picked through or gone.

Christmas day was blue that year. As a kid, it was quite traumatic to have your home violated like that, at a time of year that is supposed to be love and peace filled.

The thing is, that we kids got a small tv as a gift that year, a little black and white thing, one that we brought home that night.

So Christmas day was kinda blue that year, but at one point, we got around the little black and white tv, and one of the first things we watched was a Gilligan's Island rerun. After all these years, I recall the power of TV and Gilligan's Island specifically. I remember watching that rerun that day, and how I laughed out loud, lost in the nuttiness and comedy of that show. I was immersed in the laughter for that half hour, and have not forgotten how Gilligan and Gilligan's Island made that Christmas day a little less blue.
